Park Surgery

We are currently an 8 partner practice with a list size of 14500 patients ideally placed between Southampton and Winchester with easy access to the M3, the Hampshire countryside and the coast.

In the practice we have 2 trainers with 1 trainer in waiting. All the doctors and staff are enthusiastic and keen to help with teaching both as the opportunities arise and in regular weekly sessions.

The practice itself is very much a primary care team with a full range of enthusiastic staff. Practice nurses, Health Visitors, District Nurses, Community Midwives, Physiotherapists, Phlebotomists, and Chiropodists are all based at the practice.

We are moving towards computer only records using the EMIS system. Our new branch surgery, St Francis Medical Surgery, is located in the nearby area of Valley Park where there has been an increase in housing. The GP Registrar has their own room with access to a newly built library and education room.

The weekly pattern consists of surgeries, visits and a quiet one in ten on call (0 to 1 call an evening) with the GP trainer. The practice also uses the Healthcall deputising service so the GP Registrar can explore other options for out of hours cover.

Tuesday morning includes the option of minor surgery and ECG reporting. A joint surgery and 1.5 hour seminar takes place every Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon has the opportunity to run a baby clinic for 6 week checks and supervise the midwife led antenatal clinic. Friday is the practice meeting day and each midweek day partners meet for a clinical meeting.
